Igor Shchegolev: Achieving national goals without business involvement is impossible

The ECG rating helps assess companies’ contributions, said Igor Shchegolev, Presidential Plenipotentiary Envoy to the Central Federal District, at a meeting of the Central Federal District Investment Council.

Representatives of federal executive bodies, their territorial divisions, regional governments, and leading business associations participated in the event.

“Russian President Vladimir Putin has repeatedly spoken about the involvement of businesses in achieving national goals and the need to support such businesses. We have been systematically addressing this issue since 2022,” Shchegolev recalled.

According to the Presidential Plenipotentiary Envoy, a number of important initiatives have been implemented during the Council’s tenure, including a systemic solution to support industry, ensuring the country’s technological sovereignty, and defense capability. Over the past five years, the manufacturing industry in the Central Federal District has doubled in size, while investment has increased by 1.5 times. Wages have increased by 36% in real terms.

Shchegolev also emphasized the need for state support for the automation and robotization of industrial enterprises. According to Valery Piven, Director of the Department of Machine Tool and Heavy Engineering at the Russian Ministry of Industry and Trade, the leaders in robotization in the Central Federal District are the Kaluga, Moscow, and Vladimir regions.
